Therapy FAQs

Below are some of the most common therapy FAQs. If you need more information or advice about the right kind of therapy for you, please feel free to get in touch.

Feeling comfortable with your therapist/coach is important so this gives us chance to meet and establish a rapport.  During this session we will carry out an assessment of your current situation and explore what you are hoping to achieve.  I will explain a little about how the process would work and answer any questions you may have.  At the end of this session, you can then go away and think about it or book your next session/sessions with me.

This depends on many things and what type of therapy you are receiving. I’m not always able to give any definite numbers. During your time working with me we will regularly check in and review how you are doing and whether there is anything you need that you’re not receiving. I see therapy sessions as a two way dialogue and I am always open to feedback and any reflections about how we may do things differently. It is entirely your decision how many sessions to have.  You can decide to end at any time; however, a closing session is recommended.

Therapy is a commitment and for you to receive its full benefit regular attendance is recommended. I am rarely able to fill a cancelled appointment at short notice.  If you do need to cancel you can do so without charge by giving me at least 24 hours’ notice of the cancellation.  Appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment will be charged in full.

Please see my prices and services page for a full list of fees.

Confidentiality is essential and something I take seriously.  The information you choose to share with me is kept confidentially and I will discuss this with you at your first appointment and answer any questions or concerns you have. If ever there is a risk of harm to yourself or someone else, I may need to break confidentiality, but wherever possible will discuss this with you first.  This will be discussed more fully during our initial appointment. I also engage in regular clinical supervision where I discuss the work I am undertaking with my clients with my Supervisor. The information I share is void of any of your personal and/or identifiable information.

I have a therapy room at home that is separate to my house. You can park on the street outside and then you walk down a small public footpath to the right of my property and enter through a gate on the left. Beside the garden shed to the right is my Garden Therapy Room. I will provide my full address details upon booking an appointment.

For first appointments I will come and greet you outside the property, after this you are then welcome to come straight in upon arrival.

I currently accept cash or bank transfer. Bank details are on the contract I send you prior to us meeting for the initial session.
