My Approach to Leadership Coaching

As a passionate enthusiast of trees, I use their metaphor in many aspects of life. We need our roots to anchor and ground us. They also represent the places we grow from. Our trunk is the vessel of life; absorbing nutrients from our roots to create a solid trunk of body, mind and soul from which our branches may grow. I take the anatomy of a tree into how I approach my work with people and environments; Accepting who you’ve been, embracing who you are to become all you can be. In the workplace we need the foundations of our ethics, principles, values and vision. Our people and workforce are the solid form from which we grow from whatever the branches of our business may look like… people, product or service.

 

My Background in Employee Wellbeing

I have worked as a therapist in the NHS for approximately 14 years, specialising in Employee Wellbeing. I am passionate about understanding systemic and personal relationships in the work environment to better support individuals. With this foundation, the NHS has been an ethical container in which I’ve developed professionally, alongside growing my own private practice in therapies and coaching since 2020. In 2021, I completed the Mary Seacole Leadership Program and subsequently took a lead role in developing Lincolnshire Staff Wellbeing Hub as part of the National Program funded by the Government. I created and developed several employee wellbeing initiatives for the NHS services, extending these into wider Health and Social Care services.

I pride myself in my passion and abilities to connect with people. The workforce are the golden thread in the workplace. I can support teams and environments to get the best from their employees and I have found role modelling from the top down to be an effective approach to changing culture, which is why I am keen to work with leaders and executives. Regardless of our title we are all humans and being able to take self-responsibility is a defining characteristic in successful leadership. My coaching work is underpinned by being values led, developing emotional intelligence, communication skills to benefit morale, engagement and retention of the workforce.
